Plastic Surgery Qualifications
Dr. Kourosh Tavakoli is a renowned Plastic Surgeon who is Fellow of The Australasian College of Surgeons. Dr Tavakoli is a fully qualified Australian trainedPlastic Surgeon specialising in Cosmetic Surgery of the Face, Breast & Body. He is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. These are the societies affiliated and recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for Bona Fide Plastic Surgeons.
A Sydney Grammar School graduate, Dr Tavakoli's 6 years medical training was at the University of NSW. Furthermore, he holds a Master of Surgery (MS) postgraduate research degree in Plastic surgery also received from the University of NSW. The Masters thesis was based on scientific research into Paediatric (children's) Craniofacial Distraction Osteogenesis used in treating kids born with facial deformities. In total after finishing his high school diploma in 1988 Dr Tavakoli spent 16 years becoming a Plastic Surgeon graduating in 2003. Since January 2004 he has been in private cosmetic surgery practice in Sydney, Australia.

In this field expertise is the key to success. Dr Tavakoli believes that the future of Plastic Surgery is "Super-specialisation" in either Cosmetic Surgery or Reconstructive Surgery. Although trained in both reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery, Dr Tavakoli is one of handful of Plastic Surgeons in Australia that has 100% commitment to the field of Cosmetic Surgery. Significant portion of Dr Tavakoli's practice is devoted to Breast Augmentationand Rhinoplasty.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) Dr Tavakoli has a commitment to attend and participate in meetings to provide a continuing high level of expertise in his surgical practice. Pro Bono Work
Dr Tavakoli does perform Plastic and Reconstructive surgery free of charge on patients born with congenital disfigurement or victims of trauma who have genuine finacicial constraints. Please note that this generous work does not extend to patients wanting free cosmetic surgery.

My story is as follows. I was burnt with boiling water when I was 4years old resulting in 32% of my body having third degree burns. I was burnt mainly on the left hand side of my body which caused great disfigurement to my left breast, this has always been a problem for me the other burns did not bother me but this one was really embarrassing. I was in a relationship for 6years and when that ended I thought who now who could find me sexy, that's when i decided to email a few plastic surgeons to see what they could or if they could do anything for me. Out of 5 surgeons 2 replied, 1 with details of how private health insurance could pay for it and the other from Dr Tavakoli offering me a free consultation. I attended the consultation with Dr Tavakoli having very low hopes but to my amazement he offered to do the surgery pro-bono I was ecstatic to say the least. On the 29/11/2011 Dr Tavakoli changed my life I now have breasts that I am not ashamed of, I have gained so much more confidence in myself. Dr Tavakoli is truly a wonderful human being no-one was willing to help me except for him and his staff who I must say are equally as wonderful. In regards to "a plug for his services" I want to tell everybody what a wonderful job he did because without him I would have always felt that I wasn't beautiful..as I did for 17years.

As a father, Dr Tavakoli is dedicated to the needy causes of Children in Australia and around the World. Proud contributions are made to the Westmead Children's Hospital Spastic Disorders Unit, Australian Cancer Research Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Interplast, Save The Children Relief Fund, World Vision and UNICEF.

Dr Tavakoli has appeared in the mainstream media discussing the topics of Thailand Plastic Surgery and Post-Baby Restoration. The interviews by Sunday Mail in Brisbane and Sydney's Daily Telegraph plus the TV appearances on Today Tonight and A Current Affair have been posted on this website. More recently, Dr Tavakoli's expert commentary has been featured on wide variety of stories ranging from magic breast lift creams, male cosmetic surgery surge, breast augmentation on an up and coming Aussie model and Navy Breast Implant controversy.
In 2009 Dr Tavakoli was asked to participate in the highly popular SBS programme About Women show casing a young 20 year old undergoing the Breast Augmentation Journey from start to finish. Dr Tavakoli also commented on the rise of fake breast augmentations amongst Australian teenagers by Cowboy surgeons. This topic was widely debated in the media outlets and positively received. Dr Tavakoli's comments on the new In-Vogue procedure labioplasty also caught the attention of the high rating ABC Talk back radio PM.
Dr Tavakoli's Clinics
Dr Tavakoli practices as a Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon, in Darling Point (Eastern Suburbs) and The Hills Districts (Bella Vista in Norwest Business park) in Sydney, Australia. Our patient age profile ranges from 18 to 68 with majority in their 20s and 30s. In 2012 Clinic Survey, Word of Mouth was the commonest source of referral (69%) with approximately 6000 cosmetic surgery operations performed since 2004.
The clinics encompass a large geographical spread across NSW. Both practices are designed by leading Australian architects and purpose built for the comfort of cosmetic surgery patients. Dr Tavakoli is also the Director of Luxe Medispa.
In order to give utmost privacy to our patients Dr Tavakoli exclusively uses these clinics only for plastic surgery consultations and procedures. Dr Tavakoli's staff have been selected for their high level of professionalism and patient care and work full-time in his two Sydney practices. Furthermore there is an Emergency line available for all his postoperative patients in case of any unexpected event.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Unfortunately any medical doctor with a basic medical degree can perform cosmetic surgery in Australia. In fact Australian law allows any doctor, even your family GP, without having undergone formal surgical training to call themselves “cosmetic surgeons.
Dr Tavakoli has trained exclusively in Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery under the auspices of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, which is the only statutory recognized body for training of plastic surgeons in Australia. The letters FRACS (plastic surgery) indicate a full fellowship of the College in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. It reflects years of training (at least an extra 10 years) in a specialised branch of surgery far beyond the medical school period. In fact FRACS is the only recognized surgical qualification in Australia and is the Gold Standard by which all cosmetic surgery practitioners are measured.
