Pectoral & Buttock Augmentation

Pectoral Augmentation

Pectoralis implants can be used to augment the male chest wall. Implants can be used to provide additional projection of the chest wall enhancing the appearance and often times the self image of the patient.

The specifics of the operation vary from patient to patient. During the consultation with the patient, Dr. Tavakoli discusses the amount of augmentation that the patient desires. The preferred shape of the chest wall is also discussed with the patient. Pectoralis implants have been very successful in allowing the patients to achieve increased fullness in the chest area. This operation may serve to correct a congenital deformity or tear of the pectoralis muscle. With adequate pre-operative preparation, attention to detail intra-operatively, and attentive post-operative care, patient satisfaction after this operation is extremely high.

The Surgical Procedure

The procedure takes 2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. Generally, the procedure is done through an incision in the axillary (armpit) area. The silicone implants are placed underneath the pectoralis muscle.

What To Expect After Surgery

Rest. The chest will feel somewhat sore for the first few days. This should abate very quickly and by the end of the first week you should be comfortable.

Resumption of Physical Activity: Patients are often back to work 1-2 weeks after the procedure. No exercise of sports for 2-6 weeks.

Buttock Augmentation

Buttock Augmentation is for the individual who is unable to develop proportionate gluteal muscles, lacks buttock fat, or simply desires more augmentation in the buttock area. The tendency to accumulate fatty deposits on the buttocks may be inherited, and these deposits are often resistant to diet and exercise. Many patients become discouraged at having lost unwanted pounds without seeing a significant change in the buttock area. The overall proportions of the body may be unbalanced.

Butttock augmentation can be done by using CUSTOM MADE silicone implants (Spectrum Medical or Silimed) or fat from a person's body, known as fat transfer. Patients who desire buttocks augmentation generally lack fat in this area, or are unable to develop proportionate gluteal muscles.

A. Implant selection: The implant is either round or oval, the so-called “anatomic” implant. Like breast implants, the implant comes with either a smooth or a textured surface. In my opinion, neither the shape nor the surface texture of the implant makes much of a difference in the outcome. The content inside the implant can be either solid silicone or cohesive silicone gel, with the solid silicone the most commonly used. The solid implant is excellent since it cannot rupture, spill, or deflate while the cohesive gel is not available in the United States. In my practice, I usually use the smooth, round implant. The decision which type of implant will be used is heavily influenced by your surgeon’s preference and philosophy. The augmented buttock has a natural feel and can be somewhat firm to the touch.

B. Micro Fat Grafting is one of the best ways to add fullness to almost any shape buttock to create the desired look. Butt augmentation can add fullness to any part of the buttocks, or even the entire buttocks. You must have enough extra fat available in other areas of the body to be removed and used in the fat grafting process. This excess will be removed with very gentle, low-vacuum liposuction using a special cannula (thin tube) to protect the living fat cells. The fat particles are purified, and then inserted into the layers of tissue in the buttocks thru a single 1.0 CM incision, putting tiny droplets throughout the tissues so each fat cell will have a good blood supply.
