The quick guide to Breast Augmentation Mammoplasty recovery times – Part 2: Mastopexy
If you’re considering undergoing a breast augmentation mammoplasty with mastopexy (BAM), you might be wondering how much time to set aside before you can get back to your daily routine.
Dr Tavakoli’s team has prepared this quick guide to give you an idea of what to expect.
Immediately after surgery:
After your surgery you’ll be given specific post-op care instructions – it’s important you follow them carefully.
Week 1:
For the first week after surgery you should stick to gentle daily activities.
Week 2:
In the second week you can commence light walking, but don’t raise your heart rate or blood pressure.
Weeks 3 to 7:
In weeks 3 to 7 you can resume walking on a treadmill and light spinning on an exercise bike. You can also start lower body squats and lunges.
Week 7 onwards:
After 7 weeks you can commence upper body exercises, contact sport, swimming and light jogging. You should always wear a double supportive bra when exercising – it’s important there’s no breast movement during recovery!
3 months:
After 3 months you can resume running and boxing.
4 months:
After 4 months you should be able to resume push-ups and pec exercises.
This is just a quick guide, so it’s always best to check with your doctor and follow their advice!
