Growing up, Mimi noticed all her friends developing breasts at a normal pace and was eagerly awaiting for her time to come around. That never did.
After finishing high school, Mimi was surrounded by women and men on social media who portrayed a sense of confidence and happiness with their bodies and decided to get a breast augmentation.
“I wanted to be happy and confident with my body – for me in order to achieve that I really wanted to get my boobs done”
Choosing a Surgeon
After making the decision to undergo breast augmentation surgery, Mimi felt that now was the right time “Im set, I’ve saved up enough, brave enough, now is a good time”.
Like many young women undergoing beast enlargement surgery, Mimi did lots of research. She came across Renowned Plastic Surgeon, Dr Kourosh Tavakoli on social media and found him to be highly recommended by her friends.
With her mind made up, Mimi contacted the clinic and liaised with his Practice Manager Jennifer, who is the point of contact for all interstate and international patients.
Jennifer was able to set up Mimi’s in person consultation with Dr Tavakoli the day prior to her scheduled procedure, which meant Mimi did not have to fly back and forth from Sydney multiple times.
The consult day
The day prior to her scheduled surgery, Mimi met with Dr Tavakoli in person for the first time. He spoke to her about her goals and advised that given her age and stature, a textured anatomical (teardrop) implant would be desirable for her.
He then assessed her breasts in depth taking several measurements before advising Mimi that a Moderate or Moderate Plus profile anatomical (teardrop) implant would be best based on her exisiting anatomy.
Being of Asian decent, Dr Tavakoli explained to Mimi that her heritage gives her the benefit of great collagen in the skin, but that this would work against her when it comes to her scars healing. He confirmed that the scars could take up to 24 months to fade correctly but that the clinic would set her up with several methods to aid this process.
Mimi’s scheduled surgery time was listed for 1:30pm. This meant that she was to arrive at the hospital for her pre surgery assessment and paperwork at 12:30pm and was required to fast from 6am that morning.
Mimi returned to her hotel several hours after the procedure and was surprised at the minimal pain she felt, describing the feeling as though “you have done chest workouts at the gym”.
She was required to sleep in an upright position for a week following surgery and made sure to keep on top of all her pain medication.
Follow up appointment before returning home
After agonising about the size, Mimi learned that following Dr Tavakoli’s use of intraoperative sizers, she received 375cc anatomical (teardrop) implants. Surprised and relieved at the final size choice, Mimi said that upon reflection, she had no need to worry about the implants being too big or too small and that Dr Tavakoli’s judgement was spot on.
At this appointment, Dr Tavakoli decided that Mimi should wear a stabiliser band to assist the implants to drop into their final position but stressed to her that it should not be causing any pain. A stabiliser band is there to “help not hinder”.
After her follow up appointment, Mimi was able to comfortably return back to Adelaide to continue her recovery.
