What to expect from breast augmentation mammoplasty surgery in Sydney and Melbourne, provided to you by Dr Tavakoli and his team
It’s official; breast implant procedures (augmentation mammoplasty) are still the most popular surgery processes for patients in Australia. Research conducted in 2017 found that, despite stiff competition from liposuction and eyelid surgery, breast augmentation mammoplasty is still number one.
In basic terms, breast augmentation mammoplasty surgery involves an incision made in the breast area, through which an implant is inserted. During modern procedures, this implant is usually made from silicone. The incision is then closed and the healing process begins, after which the breasts appear larger.
There are a broad range of factors which lead women to get breast implant surgery in Sydney, in Melbourne, and across Australia.
Whatever your own motivation, Dr Tavakoli and his team will be able to develop a custom-made plan for your needs. It all begins with a consultation. But how much will the procedure cost? What is the average cost of a breast augmentation mammoplasty procedure in Australia?
Average Costs and Treatment Breakdown for Breast Augmentation Mammoplasty Procedures
It is difficult to say precisely how much the surgery will cost. Every case is different, and the desired outcomes of one patient may not match those of another. However, because the surgery involves the insertion of carefully crafted implants, the whole process may be a little more expensive than other surgical procedures. The only way that Dr Tavakoli can provide you with an accurate quote for your procedure is if you first arrange a one-on-one consultation. This will give the doctor and his team a chance to properly understand the work you need and the results you want.
The cost of the process will be made up of the following fees:
Surgical team
It is important that you receive the services of a qualified medical team who you can rely on. The fees of the surgeon and the assistant surgeon make up a significant portion of the total cost for the surgery.
Anaesthetist
A qualified anaesthetist is always on hand to make sure that you are comfortable and pain-free throughout the entire process. As the insertion of breast implants is a fairly invasive procedure, a general anaesthetic is administered.
The total fee for the anaesthetist is dependent on how long the procedure takes. This will be discussed during your consultation.
Implants
Modern silicone implants tend to be more expensive than their older saline counterparts.
As these implants are designed to be permanent long terms devices, their cost must be factored into that of the surgical procedure. It is usually this additional cost which makes breast augmentation mammoplasty a little more expensive than other procedures.
Theatre
Dr Tavakoli’s theatre in Sydney is fit with all the equipment and facilities required to perform surgery. The fee for the theatre covers the use of all equipment contained within, and will be discussed during the consultation.
Consultation and After Assessment
Communication is a critical part of what Dr Tavakoli offers to his clients. This gives the doctor a chance to get to know what you need and how to go about achieving the desired results, and also provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions.
To monitor your healing after the surgery, after-assessments are required. These are similar to the initial consultation, but they help to encourage positive long-term results and the patient’s healing. These costs are included in the total for the surgery.
Aftercare Materials
It may also be necessary for you to wear supports and other garments following the procedure, in order to protect the area while it heals.

Corrective Breast Implants Cost in Sydney
Corrective breast implant surgery addresses various issues related to existing implants, such as size, positioning, or complications like capsular contracture. This type of surgery can improve aesthetic outcomes and resolve physical discomfort, but understanding the breast implant cost in Sydney is essential for those considering corrective procedures. This guide provides a detailed breakdown of factors affecting costs and what is typically included, allowing potential patients to make informed decisions.
Factors Influencing Breast Implant Cost in Sydney
The cost of breast implants in Sydney can vary significantly based on a range of factors. For corrective surgeries, additional considerations may impact the overall expense. Here are the primary factors that influence the cost of corrective breast implant surgery.
Surgeon’s Experience and Credentials
The surgeon’s experience and qualifications also play a major role in the cost. An experienced surgeon with extensive training in corrective breast surgery will likely charge higher fees, reflecting their skill and expertise. Surgeons with a background in performing corrective procedures can offer a greater level of precision and care. While choosing a highly qualified surgeon may raise the breast augmentation cost in Sydney, it often improves surgical outcomes.
Facility and Hospital Fees
The facility where the surgery is performed impacts the overall cost of breast augmentation in Sydney. Procedures carried out in accredited hospitals or surgical centres often incur higher fees due to the standards of care, equipment, and staff available. Operating room time, anaesthesia, and nursing care are factors included in the facility fees, which contribute to a safe and supportive environment during surgery. Patients should also consider whether their chosen facility includes post-operative care services, as this can vary between centres.
How Much Do Breast Implants Cost in Sydney?
For those considering corrective procedures, one of the common questions is, how much do breast implants cost in Sydney? Here is an overview of typical costs for both initial and corrective breast augmentation.
Average Breast Implant Surgery Cost in Sydney
On average, the cost of initial breast implant surgery in Sydney can range from $8,000 to $20,000, depending on factors such as implant type and surgeon fees. For corrective procedures, costs can be higher due to additional steps required to address complications or achieve a refined aesthetic outcome. The cost of corrective breast implant surgery often reflects the complexity of the procedure and the level of care needed, which may bring the total to between $15,000 and $25,000.
Comparing Initial and Corrective Breast Augmentation Cost in Sydney
Initial breast augmentation typically involves placing new implants, which can be a straightforward procedure in most cases. Corrective surgery, however, often includes removing or replacing existing implants, addressing any complications, and reshaping the breast tissue if necessary. The added steps increase the overall cost, as they require specialised skills and more operating room time.
What Is Included in the Cost of Breast Augmentation in Sydney?
When reviewing the breast implant surgery cost in Sydney, it is essential to understand what services and support are included in the total fee. Here is a closer look at the components typically covered.
Consultation and Pre-Surgical Assessments
The initial consultation with the surgeon is an essential part of the planning process. This stage involves assessing the patient’s goals, reviewing their medical history, and discussing the best approach for the corrective surgery. Pre-surgical assessments may include imaging tests, blood work, or other diagnostics to ensure the patient is suitable for surgery. The consultation fee is generally included in the overall cost of breast implants in Sydney, but some clinics may charge it separately.
Surgery and Anaesthesia Fees
Surgery fees cover the cost of performing the procedure itself, which includes both the surgeon’s fees and those of the anaesthetist. Anaesthesia is a critical aspect of the surgery, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout. Anaesthetist fees vary depending on their qualifications and experience and may add to the total cost. Surgeons generally work with trusted anaesthetists who have experience in cosmetic procedures, particularly those involving implants.
Post-Surgical Care and Follow-Up Appointments
Post-surgical care is an important part of the recovery process, and most clinics include follow-up appointments in the overall breast augmentation cost in Sydney. Follow-up care allows the surgeon to monitor healing, address any concerns, and ensure the best possible outcome. Some clinics may also provide additional support, such as scar treatment or post-operative garment recommendations, to aid in recovery. Understanding what is included in the follow-up plan helps patients prepare for the recovery period and manage their expectations.
Is Corrective Breast Implant Surgery Worth the Cost?
Corrective breast implant surgery can provide both aesthetic and physical improvements, but determining its value depends on individual needs and goals. For some, corrective surgery is essential to address complications that affect their comfort or confidence. For others, it is an opportunity to refine previous results or update implant size or type.
When to Consider Corrective Surgery
Corrective breast implant surgery may be necessary in cases of implant rupture, capsular contracture, or implant displacement. Some individuals may also choose corrective surgery to adjust the size or shape of their implants if their preferences have changed. If issues arise that compromise the appearance or function of the implants, corrective surgery can help restore a more balanced and comfortable result.
Benefits of Corrective Procedures
The benefits of corrective procedures include improved symmetry, relief from physical discomfort, and enhanced aesthetics. While corrective surgery can be an investment, its benefits often extend beyond appearance, contributing to overall physical comfort.
